En 2005 Billy Corgan anunció la intención de volver a reunir a los Smashing Pumpkins a través de un anuncio en un periódico de Chicago.
La reunión se produjo el año 2007 de manera oficial y al poco tiempo se anunció la publicación de Zeitgeist. El nuevo disco del grupo, que salió al mercado el 10 de julio de ese mismo año, cuenta con la producción de Roy Thomas-Baker (Queen, The Cars) y Terry Date (Pantera, Soundgarden). Además de Billy Corgan y Jimmy Chamberlin, se añaden Jeff Schroeder (guitarra), Ginger Reyes (bajista) y Lisa Harriton (teclados)
Tiempo despues jimmy chamberlain anunciaba que dejaba la banda siendo su reemplazo un bebe de 19 años que tiene unos zapatos muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuy grandes x llenar, esperamos que cuente con permiso de sus padres para salir de gira nuevamente
